Description
This demonstration provides an example of bioinformatics research at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Our current largest production project is the MU / Monsanto Swine Genome Project. For information on the Swine Genome Project, please read the project description.
The data in the Demo Site is for demonstration purposes only. It does not belong to the Monsanto Swine Project, but shows how data are processed in this and other bioinformatics projects at MU.
Data presented in this web site was derived from a collaborative study funded by the United States Department of Agriculture NRI, entitled "Development of Resources for Functional Genomics in the Pig." Dr. C.K. Tuggle at Iowa State University is the lead PI on the project. Others contributing to the project include: Drs. M.F. Rothschild at Iowa State, M.B. Soares and T.L. Casavant at the University of Iowa, D. Pomp at the University of Nebraska, W.D. Beavis at the National Center for Genomics Research, and R.S. Prather, B.N. Day, M.C. Lucy, W.R. Lamberson, and J.A. Green at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Note: Most of the sequences analyzed for this demo were taken from original plate data generated by the USDA project. These sequences have been submitted to GenBank as will be obvious when viewing the database search results in this demo.
